Have you read “Blood and Ruins: The Last Imperial War, 1931–1945” and if so do you have an opinion on its premise that WW2 was more about colonial hegemony than more freedom vs. less freedom

Haven’t read the book (it’s just out, apparently); but declaring that WWII was all about a war for preservation of colonial empires is an interesting tact.

The world of Colonial Empires ended within about 10 years of the end of WWII, but I’m not sure you can claim that one view is the substitute for the other merely on timing.
