Did the Nazis try to get rid of the “Samstag” word for Sunday and only use “Sonntag”?‘Samstag’ has Hebrew roots.

The German word for ‘Sunday’ is (and has always been) Sonntag. The words ‘Samstag’ and ‘Sonnabend’ were both used for ‘Saturday’ The Nazis preferred ‘Sonnabend’, because ‘Samstag’ derives from the Hebrew word Shabbat. (‘Samstag’ and ‘Sonnabend’ are still used in Germany today, depending on the region: ‘Sonnabend’ is mostly used in Northern and Eastern Germany, while ‘Samstag’ is used in Western and Southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria.)

My mistake. I meant to ask if they changed the word for “Saturday”.
