FRANCO AND HITLER
Lisbon, Portugal (AP) –
Adolf Hitler and Generalissimo Francisco Franco, accompanied by their foreign ministers, met in a railway car at the Spanish-French border Wednesday afternoon, according to reliable reports from Spain.
These reports said the German and Spanish leaders held two conversations in the presence of their foreign ministers, Joachim von Ribbentrop and Ramón Serrano Suñer.
It was generally believed that Spain’s role in the war against England and in Hitler’s “new order” in Europe was under discussion.
