WALLACE SEES G.O.P. BLASTING LATIN FAITH
Washington, Oct. 12 –

Henry A. Wallace, Democratic vice presidential candidate, last night said that election of a Republican administration on Nov. 5 would shatter the confidence of Latin-American peoples in the United States’ Western Hemisphere policies.

On the foundation of confidence that has now been created by his Administration all American nations can go out to cement the solidarity of this hemisphere by building more intimate contacts with one another.

We shall do well to keep in mind that if Roosevelt were defeated, a Republican administration, however good its intentions, would require months or years to restore the confidence of the other American peoples.

Wallace expressed hope in a radio speech that Republican leaders “will come to see that public action to promote prosperity in all the Americas is good business.” He said he was discouraged by the minority attitude in Congress toward the bill expanding export-import bank credit by $500 million for use chiefly in Latin America.
