JAPANESE RAP BOTH CANDIDATES
Tokyo, Oct. 28 (UP) –

Japanese newspapers charged today that both United States presidential candidates were “ruthlessly exploiting” the Far Eastern issue and called for the winner of next week’s election to “realize the actualities in the Far East and be courageous enough to face them as they are.”

The Tokyo newspaper Kokumin said that such exploitation by America’s presidential candidates might drag the United States into hostilities. The paper added that:

Japan, nevertheless, has been pursuing a just policy with fortitude and equanimity.

Yushikara Suma, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that:

We feel and are earnestly hoping that whether or not there is a change of administration, whoever takes the helm will realize the actualities in the Far East and be courageous enough to face them as they are.
