EARLY JULY URGED FOR NEXT R-DAY
Washington, May 8 (UP) –
Selective Service officials said today they would recommend to President Roosevelt that he call for registration early in July a million men who have reached their 21st birthday since the first R-Day last Oct. 16.
Some officials indicated that July 1 would be a likely choice. Others favored July 4.
The War Department, meantime, said that changes in the Selective Service Act are under study, but that no decisions have been reached. Suggested changes involve lowering the age limits variously from 18 to 30 to as low as 25 years.
