Kinda makes me wonder how the Germans felt about the little kids on the Wochenschau?

I know my grandmother met a German women who thought their kids died and went to heaven (Fighting Jews and Athiests etc)

I mean the German Government didn’t hide sending wave of kids to die and it was shown in the cinema. How did the Germans feel about it (before wars end) ?
