Beginning in oktober 1944 the Soviet Union began to actively support a Turkic/Kazakh separatist rebellion against China in Northern Xinjang. This was in fact a proxy-war of the Soviet Union against China. It led to the creation of the East Turkestan Republic (ETR) in Northern Xinjang, wich was de facto outside of Chinese control and de facto under Soviet influence.
This Soviet proxy-war against China coincided with a large Japanese offensive in China and Japanese conquests in China and China had to send forces to Xinjang that China might have otherwise used to stop the large Japanese offensive of 1944.
Did the Soviet proxy-war against China in Northern Xinjang make the Japanese Ichigo offensive against China in 1944 more succesful?
