Democrats to open campaign Jan. 22
Washington (UP) – (Nov. 20)
The Democratic campaign to win next November’s national election will open Jan. 22, Democratic National Committee Chairman Frank C. Walker announced today.
On that date, the National Committee will meet here to consider convention plans. Mr. Walker said the meeting:
…may be taken as the opening of the 1944 campaign, which, so far as the Democrats are concerned, has been delayed to avoid the infusion of politics into the war situation.
The committee will decide on the time and place for the national convention and its meeting will be coordinated with the Jackson Day dinners.
Chicago is considered the most likely choice of both major parties for their conventions.
