Copyright issues with archives?

Hello, by curiosity, I wonder if the show has any copyright issues over the archives it shows since some of them are also in documentaries.
Thanks for the answers!

They note in the description to every video that the archive footage they use is properly licensed from Screanocean/Reuters. I’m confident that covers their legal liabilities in most countries.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But I recall from one video (or post somewhere) about fund raising for the channel, that one of the non negligeable part of the budget was paying the licence for the visual footage (and picture).
So I believe they are actually walking on the right side of the law regarding copyrighting.

In the USA, anything created by the federal government is free of copyright. Such as World War II material in the U.S. National Archives.

I’d like to think other countries have the same policy, but I don’t know.

Reuters is a corporate archive so it’s a different matter.
