China’s ‘Peking Man’ skull reported taken to Tokyo

Chungking, China (UP) –
The famous “Peking Man” skull – believed by anthropologists to be 400,000 years old – has been seized by the Japanese and sent to Tokyo, according to information received from Peiping today.

The skull, known academically as Sinanthropus pekinensis, had disappeared from its case at Union Medical College, a Rockefeller-endowed institution.

There’s a lot more mystery about it, and a fascinating story about how an attempt was made to rescue the collection. Which is still missing
