Canadians urged to vote for draft
Ottawa, April 25 (AP) –
Prime Minister W. L. Mackenzie King, warning that only a total effort may bring victory, urged Canadians last night to vote “yes” in the plebiscite Monday on releasing the government from previous commitments not to draft men for military service overseas.
The Prime Minister, in a broadcast to the Dominion, declared that a “no” majority of the 4,000,000 votes Canadians are expected to cast not only might help place Canada at the enemy’s mercy, but would also be a declaration:
…that you have no trust in the government and Parliament you elected.
