Can you tell us about (non-human) smuggling in World War II?

Hey Indy,
Can you talk about non-human (material, luxury, and war) materials in World War 2? I’m especially interested in how or if the Germans were able to get any level of raw materials into occupied Europe. Did they use the French Atlantic to bypass the British blockade? How did smuggling and contraband running work in the Norwegian fjords, what countermeasures did the Allies use to stop this, and how did they pay for these materials, given it was the lack of foreign currency reserves that drove the Germans economically to need to attack Poland? If you could find historian assessments on how much this could have been scaled up if it had been a German priority?

Thanks a lot. This is a difficult show to watch, but it’s very informative.
