Hi all,
I found an interesting article in NY Times archives. Written after Tobruk fallen into German hands. I wonder what is your take on that opinion.
Hi all,

Harsh and interesting. The article seems to be arguing three different perspectives on a single point.
I have never heard a soldier praise the BBC.
Still true years later with some Brits, at least those I’ve met during the 50th VE-Day.
I think this article ignores the role of the Australian forces in the original siege, and sort of assumes that the entire 8th Army was capable of achieving what the 9th Australian Division did, when they wouldn’t have been up to it.
Which is interesting considering the author himself was Australian by birth:
Interestingly enough British side will say the same thing about US Army nine months later SPOILERS :
Keep in mind some of the author’s achievements:
Lenin Peace Prize, 1972
Gold Medal for Journalism from the International Organization of Journalists, 1972
Order of Friendship of Peoples, USSR 1988
World Peace Council Gold Medal
I like me some acerbic journalism, no kid gloves even in defeat.
