CIVILIAN DEATHS TOP ARMY’S IN BELGIUM

Brussels, Aug. 30 (UP) –
More civilians than soldiers were killed in the 8-day campaign in Belgium last year, according to official figures released today.

Casualties in the Belgian Army were 8,500 killed, 18,583 wounded, 200,000 prisoners, of which 120,000 have been released.

Civilian deaths were estimated at 10,000 while no figure was released on wounded civilians. It was estimated that 1.5 million civilians fled the war zone and that virtually all have returned. 25,000 Belgian nationals are now in England, it was stated.
