President abandons fireside chat plan

Washington (UP) –
President Roosevelt has abandoned plans to make a radio address to the nation before the first of the year.

On two occasions recently, the President said he planned to deliver such a speech this month. His decision not to do so will give him more time to work on the budget for the next fiscal year and to prepare the message which he will deliver to Congress Jan. 7.
