WAACs’ maximum size increased to 150,000

Washington (UP) –
President Roosevelt announced today that he had increased by executive order, the maximum size of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps from 25,000 to 150,000 women. About 56,000 WAACs are expected to be on duty by next July, the President said.

Senator Elbert D. Thomas (D-UT) said at a “Thanks to Russia” dinner here that Soviet soldiers are fighting not only for their homeland but for American institutions.

Mr. Thomas said:
