Mrs. Lillian Auerbach, 42, and her only daughter, Irene, 21, leave for Fort Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday for training in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. Mrs. Auerbach said she had wanted to join since the WAAC was organized and had served as a yeomanette in the last war. Milton Auerbach, the husband and father, will stay at home, “very jealous and very proud.”

Bombs fall on Iceland

Reykjavík, Iceland –
A German place, identified by civilian observers as a four-motored Focke-Wulf bomber, dropped two bombs in an open field Tuesday near the north Iceland fishing village of Sauðárkrókur without causing damage or casualties, United States Army Headquarters reported.
