American soldiers in London warned

London, England (UP) –
American soldiers on leave in London were warned today tha5t they should beware of bogus guides who offer to show them the sights.

The warning was issued in a joint statement by Scotland Yard and U.S. Army authorities, who pointed out that such tricksters wait daily at railroad stations and persuade the soldiers to tour London.

Usually the “guides” take the Americans to public houses, clubs and restaurants and the soldiers foot the bill.

After a few hours, the “guides” ask a fee of from $4 to $12. The soldiers, not wanting to appear ungrateful, usually pay.
