Santa Monica, Cal. –
The Douglas airplane factory has revealed that the construction of “double boxcars on wings” for the Army are far past the drafting stage. These flying freighters, it states, will weigh about 125,000 pounds, with a speed of 200 miles an hour and that 100 of them will do the work of 209 of the present giant, four-motored C-54’s.

James Stewart promoted

Washington (UP) –
The promotions of former movie actor James Stewart and Carter Glass III, grandson of the Senator from Virginia, to the grade of first lieutenants in the Army Air Forces was announced yesterday. Both were previously second lieutenants.
