Alain michel odd takes on vichy role in the holocaust

I found this really odd interview of him on “Le causeur” with wich I disagree, I find it really odd he make the claim Laval and Bousquet saved jews when they don’t seem to have done that, if pierre laval really did that, I’m not sure the german would prefer him so much compare to Darlan, beside even if he wasnt antisemite, I4m not sure if it really matter since he still made the choice to fellow a collaboration with nazi germany and made his “je souhaite la victoire de l’allemagne” speech, saying that also mean a victorious nazi germany would exterminate both foreign and french jews and I don’t think the laws on the “statu des juifs” were meant to protect the jews either. I’m not sure the number of survivor is a good indicator of vichy france intention toward the jews either. The interview in french Alain Michel: "Vichy désirait protéger tous les Français, dont les juifs" - Causeur His take on the vichy regime role in the holocaust is quite divisive and critcized by other french historian like this one L’État contre les Juifs - Réponse de Laurent Joly à Alain Michel - Herodote.net
