Washington, Sept. 26 (UP) –
300 names of firms and individuals today were added to the “blacklist” by which the United States government is attempting to stifle Axis-financed propaganda and Axis trade ties in the Americas.
At the same time, 65 names were deleted from the original list of 1,800 firms and individuals in Latin America which was made public by President Roosevelt on July 17.
Explaining the deletions, the Department said that in some cases satisfactory corrective action had been taken since July 17. It added, that situations of this kind would be kept under scrutiny to insure against any return to activities inimical to the hemispheric defense policies of the American republics.
The changes announced today place the present total of blacklisted firms and persons at 2,035.
Offices of the French aviation corp., Air France, in Argentina, Brazil and Chile were added to the list.
The Buenos Aires office of the Italian transatlantic airline, LATI, were blacklisted.
The German news agency Trans-Ocean was blacklisted in its offices in Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Uruguay.
