15,000 Japs observe ‘thanksgiving to U.S.’

TOKYO (AP) – Fifteen thousand Japanese, mainly students, gathered in a Tokyo stadium today for a “thanksgiving to America” service at which speakers urged the quick establishment of democracy in Japan.

Representatives of the leading political parties thanked the Allies for alleviating the food crisis the past year.

When the rally was over, the group paraded through downtown Tokyo, past Gen. MacArthur’s headquarters.
