Anyone seen Samuel Fullers ww2 epic the big red one? I think it’s shockingly underrated. Apparently Fuller rough in ww2 and some of his experiences are in the movie. Also I have to recommend the directors cut.

I am a fan. It’s actually one of the first WWII films I’ve ever seen when I was young (albeit the original release, but still).
Indeed a very c00l movie

It is an excellent movie; telling the story of all the guys, but Griff in particular. There’s a “director’ cut” that I’ve heard of, but never seen. And I quite agree it has been forgotten for no good reason.
Fuller also wrote the novel, which is an incredibly good read.

The directors cut is well worth watching. Tons of deleted scenes put back in, It’s almost like watching a new movie. They also made the world war one flashback black and white, as the director intended.
